Rae Cornelia Strattman

Livingston, NY:  Rae Cornelia Strattman, 95, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in New York, where she had resided for the past several years.  She was the wife of the late Clayton W. Strattman who died in 2013.  Born in Winsted, August 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Bernice (Jacquier) Holcomb.  She grew up on a dairy farm, loved country music, was an avid reader of westerns and mysteries,  enjoyed flower gardening, cats & dogs.  She was an old fashion housewife, devoted to her husband and family. (Today would have been their 73rd anniversary, being married on September 30, 1950)  She had attended local schools here and was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1947.  She was also the first baby to be born in the Winsted Hospital in 1928 and has the letter acknowledging that fact.  She  was also a member of the United Methodist Church here.  Her survivors include Wesley R. Strattman of Barkhamsted, Lisa Fox and husband Louis of Tolland, MA and Laurie Strattman of Germantown, NY; a granddaughter, Jami Southard; and three great grandchildren, Harrison, Greyson and Jamison Southard and several nieces and nephews.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00 AM in Riverside Cemetery in Pleasant Valley. CT.  There are no calling hours.  Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, Winsted,  CT is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the Little Guild of St. Francis.
